Food Distribution Eligibility
Care for Real distributes food under guidelines established by the Illinois Department of Human Services, the City of Chicago and the Greater Chicago Food Depository. In order to receive food you must meet the income requirements as listed below.
Each time you receive food, you will be asked for your signature on this form attesting that you meet the financial eligibility guidelines and other listed terms.
Monthly and Daily Food Distribution
All persons located in our service area are eligible to receive Monthly Staples every 30 days. These items include meat, canned goods, rice, beans, pasta, and dairy when available. Identification must be shown for each visit. You can return before 30 days to receive items from the Daily Table listed below. The Care for Real service area is Lawrence Ave north to Devon Ave and from Western Ave. east to Lake Michigan.
Everyone who meets the income eligibility, whether they live in our service area or not, can come in every day that we distribute food and receive fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and pastries donated by local businesses. You may receive food only once per day and identification must be presented at each visit.
- Provide a current photo ID, such as Drivers License, State Issued ID card, Passport, or I94 Visa. Identification must be presented at each visit.
- Provide proof of residency if the address shown on your identification is not your current address. Proof of residency can be a current utility bill, signed lease, or a piece of mail received at that address.
- Provide proof of residency for all members of your household for whom you will be receiving food.
